Officers said the pair were spotted on CCTV just after a stolen car was abandoned

Police probing a shooting outside an Edinburgh health club have issued a fresh appeal for information after two people were spotted on CCTV footage.

The images show the pair running from the area where a stolen car was found abandoned in West Bryson Road.

It was taken from a nearby CCTV camera at about 1920 BST on 20 October, half-an-hour after the shooting outside Bannatyne's Health Club.

Robert Kelbie, 27, was hurt in the attack at the Newcraighall gym.

Mr Kelbie was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries, which were not life-threatening. He later discharged himself from hospital.

Lothian and Borders Police recovered a partially burnt-out Vauxhall Vectra in West Bryson Road the following day.

They now want to trace the two people seen on CCTV pair running into Harrison Lane, towards the Union Canal.

Det Ch Insp Richard Thomas, who is leading the investigation, said: "We believe that the Vauxhall Vectra was abandoned in West Bryson Road just minutes before the two people were shown on CCTV, and we are keen for any information that can assist us in tracing them.

"We know that the area was relatively busy with dog walkers and pedestrians, and it is likely that someone would have noticed two people in the area, either running towards the Union Canal, or on the towpath there.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time, who noticed the two people, should contact police immediately."
