Scotland's papers: 'Butcher surgeon' and Rangers takeover


Several of the Scottish front pages feature the Scots breast surgeon who carried out botched and unnecessary operations.

The Herald has a picture of one of his victims with the headline: "I was mutilated by Scots surgeon."

Ian Paterson, who "played God" by carrying out unnecessary operations on his patients, is facing life behind bars, says the Scottish Daily Express.

The Scottish Daily Mail also refers to his "God complex". The paper questions why the NHS failed to stop the 'butcher surgeon'.

The i newspaper says Paterson was convicted on 17 counts of wounding with intent.

Theresa May will launch her party's bid to recapture its former Scottish heartlands, almost 20 years to the day since the Conservatives were wiped out north of the Border, reports the Scotsman.

The Scottish Sun also features the trial on its front page and a story about Jamie and Louise Redknapp.

Revived daily flights between Inverness and London's Heathrow have been hailed a huge success - with 75,000 passengers using the service in its first year, says the Press and Journal.
