Commuters have been warned of major disruption to rail services to and from Glasgow Queen Street after someone was hit by a train.

It is understood the incident happened at Bishopbriggs station at about 16:00.

ScotRail said services between Queen Street and Edinburgh, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Dunblane and Alloa were affected.

It warned the disruption could last until 20:00, but low level trains from Queen Street are running as normal.

Services from Glasgow to Stirling via Croy have resumed, but trains are not calling at Bishopbriggs.

ScotRail said train tickets could be used on First Glasgow buses operating on the same route.
