Police bid to identify road death victim

Police have appealed for help in identifying an elderly woman who died after being struck by a car in Glasgow.

The woman, who is thought to be about 70 years old, was hit by a Fiat Punto car on Edinburgh Road, Baillieston, at about 1700 GMT on Monday.

She was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but later died from her injuries.

The driver of the Fiat Punto was uninjured but badly shaken by the incident.

The victim is described as 5ft 5in tall, of heavy build and with grey hair. She was wearing a green jacket, a red cardigan, a white-hooded top with green stripes, black trousers and black shoes.

She was also wearing a pink scarf and a yellow metal brooch.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for anyone who may know the identity of the victim to come forward.
