Stab injuries spark police probe

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 26-year-old man walked into a filling station in Hamilton with serious stab wounds.

Officers said they did not know exactly how or where the man was injured but they said the incident could have resulted in him losing his life.

Police said the 26-year-old had been at a party in the Eddlewood area.

He walked into the Jet Filling Station on Strathaven Road at about 0800 BST on Saturday and asked staff for help.

They called the emergency services and he was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, where his condition was 'stable'.

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.
