The newly elected Conservative MP for Sleaford and North Hykeham, Dr Caroline Johnson, has taken her seat in the House of Commons.

After being sworn in by Commons officials, she was congratulated by Speaker John Bercow.

She won the Lincolnshire seat with a 13,000 majority in a by-election last week, triggered by the resignation of predecessor Stephen Phillips.

It gave the government a working majority of 14 in the House of Commons.
