The funeral has taken place of Slaughtmanus Gaelic footballer Kevin King.

The 22-year-old, who represented St Mary's GAC at underage and senior level, died after taking ill last week.

It is understood Mr King was playing an indoor soccer match in Campsie, County Londonderry, when he collapsed.

The Mass for Mr King took place at St Mary's Church, Tamnaherin, on Tuesday.

Slaughtmanus GAA chairman Eddie Deery told the BBC last week that Kevin King was a promising footballer with a bright future.

"Kevin was so popular, it is a very tragic event and especially at his age, being a promising footballer," he said.

The board of Derry Gaelic Athletic Association said that the loss of Kevin was "keenly felt" throughout the GAA Community.
