Gerald Lavey jailed after masked gang attack in Derry
A 30-year-old man, who was attacked by members of a masked gang armed with iron bars in Londonderry, has been jailed for three months for drugs offences.
Gerald Patrick Lavey was attacked in a house in the Creggan area of Derry in March.
Lavey, whose address was given as the Simon Community at Central Avenue in Bangor, sustained multiple fractures to his limbs in the assault.
He has 64 previous convictions.
Eleven of the previous convictions are for drugs offences.
The court was told that Lavey had to leave Derry following the attack.
Lavey pleaded guilty to possessing the class A drug Fentanynl in a patch form and guilty to possessing small quantities of herbal cannabis and diazepam.
The court was told the drugs were found following a police search of his home under the misuse of drugs act in October 2013.
Lavey admitted that he knew the drugs where illegal when he bought them.
