Rush Hall nursing home: Limavady woman admits ill treating elderly patient

A nurse has pleaded guilty to ill treating an elderly patient at a nursing home in County Londonderry.

Susanna Simber, 59, of Ballykelly Road, Limavady, admitted the offence that took place on 30 May 2013 at Rush Hall nursing home.

The court was told the victim was in her eighties and had been receiving treatment for a mental disorder at the time of the offence.

A second related charge was withdrawn at Londonderry Magistrate's Court.

The judge told the defendant, who is originally from the Philippines, that as part of her bail conditions she must continue to reside at her current home address.

Ms Simber was suspended from the care home last year and will be sentenced next month.
