Derry food firm fined for pollution breaches
A Londonderry company has been fined £3,000 for breaching pollution regulations.
The Foyle Food Group was convicted of failing to maintain equipment to control the release of bad odours from its rendering plant.
An investigation by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency last year found there had been a significant number of breakdowns of the equipment.
It also found that a back-up system for destroying odours had failed.
Londonderry Magistrates Court was told that the agency had received a large number of complaints from residents in the Lisahally area.
