Cookstown man pleads 'not guilty' to manslaughter
A Cookstown man has denied killing another man in a fight in the town in April last year.
Christopher Murphy, 22, from Tullagh Drive in Cookstown, pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of 31-year-old Conor McCusker on 19 April 2009.
Mr McCusker was on a night out with his brother Niall, the vice-captain of the Derry GAA team, when he suffered serious head injuries in a fight.
He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, but died two days later.
At Omagh Crown Court, sitting in Belfast, prosecution and defence lawyers agreed it was a "single blow or push manslaughter case" but estimated the trial would take up to two weeks.
Releasing Mr Murphy on bail Mr Justice Hart said he would review the case next month.
