A 53-year-old man has been shot in an attack in Mosside, County Antrim.

Police said they were called to the shooting at a property in Mosside Gardens just after 19:30 GMT on Monday.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service was also called and sent an emergency crew and a rapid response paramedic to the scene.

The man was taken to hospital to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, County Londonderry.

Police have appealed anyone who witnessed that attack to contact them.

Speaking to BBC Radio Foyle, DUP North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey said there was growing concern about similar types of incidents in the area.

"Whoever is involved I would urge them to bring this reign of terror to an end because it is wrong and should not be happening," he said.

"I believe it will take a concerted effort by everybody to try and bring normality back to our communities."
