Crossmaglen: Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by a car

A man in his 20s remains in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Crossmaglen, County Armagh.

It happened at Cardinal O'Fiaich Square shortly before 06:20 GMT on Tuesday.

Police have said it was a hit and run incident and are appealing for witnesses.

A blue Volkswagen Passat, believed to have been involved, has since been recovered by police from the market area in the village.

Sinn Féin councillor Terry Hearty said he was "deeply shocked" at what had happened, and that anyone with information about the incident should contact police.
