Rathfriland pensioner tied up by armed burglars

A man in his 70s has been tied up by armed men during a burglary at his home in Rathfriland, County Down.

The burglars, who are believed to have had a gun, entered the pensioner's home at Banbridge Road some time between 07:00 and 08:00 GMT on Tuesday.

One of the men was wearing a balaclava. They tied the victim's feet with a belt before stealing money.

Police said the pensioner was not injured but had been left badly shaken by the "terrifying ordeal".
