Londonderry: Man charged over serious assault in Waterloo Street

A 22-year-old man has been charged by police over an assault in Londonderry which left a man critically injured.

The injured man, who is also in his 20s, was attacked in Waterloo Street at 00:45 BST on Sunday.

The 22-year-old man was arrested a short time later. Detectives have now charged him with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

He has also been charged with possession of a Class A drug and is due in court in Derry on Monday.
