Belfast: Man released after questioning over IRA murders of two policemen in 1987
A man arrested as part of an inquiry into the murders of two police officers almost 30 years ago has been released pending a report to prosecutors.
Royal Ulster Constabulary detective constables Michael Malone, 35, and Ernest Carson, 50, were killed in an IRA gun attack on 26 August 1987.
Another officer and a civilian were wounded in the shooting in the Liverpool Bar on Donegall Quay.
The man who was arrested, 54, was questioned in Belfast on Wednesday.
Det Insp Stuart Griffin said: "Although these murders happened a long time ago, police would continue to appeal to anyone with information about the shooting and those involved to come forward."
