A pipe bomb has been found during a security alert at Upper Dunmurry Lane on the outskirts of Belfast.

Police said the device was removed for further examination and roads have re-opened.

They have appealed for information with regard to the incident.

It follows the discovery of two bombs in security alerts in west Belfast on Saturday. Meanwhile, police are attending a security alert in Crumlin, County Antrim, on Wednesday night.

Police say there is an ongoing alert in the Ballydonaghy Meadows area following the discovery of a suspicious object.

Sinn Féin's Declan Kearney said a number of people had been moved from their homes and criticised those responsible for the alert.

He said the incident had "caused serious disruption to local people".

"I commend the community spirit of those locals who have opened a community centre to provide shelter for those families who have been forced out of their homes," he added.
