Drivers warned to take extra care after snow falls overnight

Drivers were urged to take extra care after snow fell overnight in some parts of Northern Ireland.

A Met Office yellow warning for ice and snow remained in place until 15:00 GMT on Friday.

TransportNI said roads were salted overnight and on Friday morning.

Motorists were advised to take care on the M1 between Moira and Lisburn due to surface water and on roads which had not been treated.

Ulsterbus said that due to adverse weather conditions, a number of its services were cancelled.

A yellow warning for ice and snow was issued for counties Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal by the Irish weather service Met √Čireann especially on higher ground.
