Athletes who competed and won medals in last year's Special Olympics World Games have been honoured in Belfast City Hall.

Eighty-eight sportsmen and women from Team Ireland went to the games in Los Angeles.

Ulster athletes brought home 19 medals, including five gold medals and nine placement ribbons.

The athletes, their coaches, relatives and volunteers were invited to a civic reception to celebrate their success.

It was hosted by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Arder Carson.
