North Belfast: Crumlin Road security alert ends

A security alert that caused a number of homes to be evacuated in north Belfast is over.

Army bomb experts were sent to the alert on the Crumlin Road. The road was closed between Tennent Street and Twaddell Avenue.

Police examined a number of items and a controlled explosion was carried out.

They said nothing untoward was found and the road was reopened shortly after midnight.
