Doagh death: Man 'crushed between two vehicles'

A 57-year-old man has died at commercial premises in County Antrim.

The incident happened just before 21:30 BST on Tuesday at Chain Reaction Cycles, Kilbride Road, Doagh.

John McPoland from the Ambulance Service said it received reports that a man had been "crushed between two vehicles".

Witnesses attempted to resuscitate the man, an employee with the company, before paramedics arrived, but he died at the scene.

Chain Reaction Cycles said is was working closely with authorities "regarding the circumstances which led to this tragic accident".

"Our immediate concerns and sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time," the statement continued.

Newtownabbey Borough Council is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

It is the council's responsibility to investigate under health and safety legislation.

"Council staff were quickly on site at the premises last night and investigations are ongoing," said a spokesperson.
