North Belfast shooting: Three men charged with attempted murder

Three prominent loyalists have appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of two men in north Belfast earlier this week.

One of the victims was shot in the right thigh near the Ballysillan Road at about 22:10 BST on Wednesday.

In Belfast Magistrates' Court were John Bunting, 47, of Stonebridge Avenue, Conlig, John Howcroft, 46, of Formby Park, Belfast and Darren McCalister, 31, of Alliance Road, Belfast.

All three were remanded in custody.

The men were charged with the attempted murder of Andre Shoukri and John Boreland on 20 August.

All three were also charged with being in possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
