Toddler badly hurt in car crash in Kircubbin, County Down

A two-year-old girl has been seriously injured in a road crash in County Down.

It happened when a car and a transit van were in collision at Rubane Road, Kircubbin, at about 08:15 BST on Thursday.

A man, believed to be the van driver, and a female motorist were treated in hospital for injuries that are not thought to be serious.

PSNI Inspector McClurg said: "Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to seek alternative main routes."

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them at Steeple Police Station or on the non-emergency telephone number 101.
