A man has been arrested over the theft of an ATM from a service station in Seaforde, County Down.

The theft happened shortly before 03:45 GMT on Friday at the premises on the Newcastle Road. Considerable damage was caused to the building.

A van with the ATM inside was found at the Ballystockart Road, Comber, on Friday night.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.

It is believed the digger used had been stolen a short time earlier from a nearby quarry and then set on fire and destroyed in the incident.
