Four cars damaged in suspected arson attack in north Belfast
Four cars have been badly damaged in a suspected arson attack in north Belfast.
It happened on the Whitewell Road just before 22:30 GMT on Tuesday. No-one was injured during the incident.
Police have said they are treating the incidents as hate crimes. A 36-year-old man was arrested a short time later in the area.
He was later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
SDLP councillor Pat Convery condemned the attack.
"What I've been told so far is that a number of cars have been attacked and set alight.
"One family, I think, had to be helped to get out of their home because one of the cars was in the driveway.
"I'm shocked that people in the local community, particularly people who are moving into the area, their neighbours, and somebody has taken it upon themselves to attack their property."
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
