Woman, 62, released over dissident gun attack on police

A woman arrested by detectives investigating a dissident republican gun attack on police in north Belfast last month has been released.

At least ten shots were fired at three police vehicles at they drove along Crumlin Road on 5 December.

No-one was injured in the attack.

The 62-year-old woman was arrested in north Belfast on Tuesday morning and has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

A man and a woman, both aged 26, were arrested on Friday morning in connection with the attack, but were released the following day without charge.

The police described the attack as reckless and said it was extremely fortunate that no officers or members of the public were killed.
