Raymond Johnston admits manslaughter of brother
A County Fermanagh man who had been due to stand trial for the murder of his younger brother has pleaded guilty to his manslaughter.
Raymond Johnston, 34, from Abbey Drive in Enniskillen killed his brother David at Killesher near Florencecourt on 13 July 2012.
An earlier court hearing had been told that he had threatened to rape his older brother's pregnant fiancée.
On Thursday, defence counsel asked for his client to be re-arraigned.
When that charge was put to him again, Raymond Johnston said he was "not guilty" of his brother's murder, "but guilty to the unlawful act of manslaughter".
A lawyer for the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) told Omagh Crown Court that Raymond Johnston's guilty plea satisfied the interests of justice.
A defence barrister described it as an extremely tragic and unusual case.
Raymond Johnston was released on bail pending a sentencing hearing in January, but the judge told him it was inevitable that he would receive a significant custodial sentence.
