Woman rescued from River Derg dies

A woman rescued by Foyle Search and Rescue from the River Derg has died.

Police were called at about 16:00 BST on Thursday over a body in the water close to the old castle in Castlederg.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and Foyle Search and Rescue teams searched the river.

The fire and rescue service recovered a woman's body at 19:35. CPR was carried out and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital where death was confirmed.
