Gang burgles elderly man's home in north Belfast
An elderly man's home has been ransacked and burgled by a gang of three men in north Belfast.
One of the gang called to the man's house in Kilcoole Park at about 13:00 GMT on Wednesday, claiming to be from a water utility company.
While he distracted the householder, who is in his 70s, two other men entered the house and ransacked an upstairs bedroom.
The gang stole a number of items of jewellery. The pensioner was not hurt.
Police have appealed to witnesses or anyone with information about the burglary to contact them.
The man who called to the door is described as being approximately 25 years old, 5ft 9in tall, of slim build.
He was wearing a black woollen hat, black waterproof jacket, tan trousers and spoke with a southern Irish accent.
Another member of the gang was said to be approximately 20 years old, 5ft 8in tall and of heavy build.
He was wearing a brown coloured beanie hat and also spoke with a southern Irish accent.
The third gang member was in his late teens.
All three were wearing yellow and green industrial-type gloves.
