Dublin shooting: man arrested after teenager wounded

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a teenage boy in Dublin on Tuesday night.

The 16-year-old was injured in the drive-by gun attack in the Crumlin area of the city.

He was standing on the street outside a house on Lismore Road when a number of shots were fired from a passing motor car.

His condition in hospital was described as serious but stable. A 26-year-old man has been arrested.

The Republic's justice minister Alan Shatter condemned the incident.

"We have seen in recent weeks the savage disregard which some people have for human life," he said.

"Last night's incident showed similar callousness, and could easily have ended a young life."
