A 10-year-old boy found what is believed to be a gun in County Armagh, and took it home with him, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

The child found the suspected firearm in a field in the Colane Road area of Lurgan on Saturday afternoon.

It was recovered by police a short time later.

On Sunday the PSNI said they had passed it to Army Technical Officers (ATO) for further examination.

A police spokeman appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact Lurgan Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
