Two young women raped in Londonderry and Portadown attacks
Two young women have been raped in separate attacks in Northern Ireland.
In Londonderry, a teenage girl was raped at about 03:15 GMT on Saturday in the Temple Grove area of the city.
In Portadown, another young woman was attacked in the Ballyoran area at about the same time.
Sinn Fein councillor Gemma McKenna said the Portadown woman was returning from a night out and was close to her home when her attacker struck.
"She was subjected to a horrific attack within a relatively short distance of her home," she said.
"It is imperative that this individual is caught and imprisoned as a matter of priority and this is not just an issue for the PSNI, it is an issue for the entire community."
Police have released details of the man responsible for the Derry attack. He is believed to have been wearing a dark trench coat and lace-up boots.
Police are appealing for information.
Helena Bracken from sex abuse charity the Nexus Institute said young people had to look out for each other.
"I do hope that people listen to what's going on around them and they take care of themselves and take care of their friends.
"Use taxis sensibly, make sure you're delivered to the door by a reputable firm, and if you're with a group, look out for one another.
"It's common sense."
