Omagh builder fined £5,000 for destruction of protected trees

An Omagh man has been fined £5,000 for the destruction of protected trees.

Patrick Haughey, of Old Mountfield Road in the town, pleaded guilty to the removal of three trees at Castle Manor, Knocknamoe, Omagh.

He was fined for the removal of one tree and was given a conditional discharge of two years for the removal of the other two trees.

Mr Haughey is a builder who trades as HBC Homes and Castle Manor is one of his developments.
