Seven people were arrested over the weekend at events linked to the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast.

The PSNI have praised the thousands of people who attended concerts at City Hall, the Odyssey Arena and the Ulster Hall for their behaviour.

Over 15,000 people watched a free concert by Northern Irish band Snow Patrol at City Hall.

Police also received very few reports of other crime during three days of MTV and music events across the city.

Chief Superintendent Alan McCrum thanked those who attended events in Belfast.

"We are extremely pleased at the public's co-operation over the three days," he said.

"I would like to thank the visitors who attended events for their patience during what was a very busy policing operation. Our main aim was to ensure the safety of members of the public, event participants, visitors and those working at the events and I am happy we have achieved that.

"An event of this scale can only be delivered through effective and thorough partnership working and the MTV Europe Music Awards event has proved that Northern Ireland can host international events successfully and safely.
