Belfast man accused of imprisoning woman
A Belfast man is to stand trial accused of imprisoning a woman, threatening to kill her and to destroy her pet dog.
Matthew English appeared at the city's Magistrates Court on charges allegedly committed over two days in May.
The 25-year-old, of Duncairn Parade, is alleged to have falsely imprisoned the woman and possessed a kitchen knife with intent to commit an offence.
He is further accused of assaulting and threatening to kill both her and another man.
Another charge of threats to damage property relates to an allegation that he threatened to destroy her dog.
Mr English declined to say anything in response to the charges, or call any witnesses during a preliminary enquiry hearing.
District Judge Fiona Bagnall granted a prosecution application to have him returned for Crown Court trial on a date to be fixed.
The accused was released on continuing bail until his case proceeds.
