Police probe three distraction burglaries in Belfast

Police are investigating three distraction burglaries, which took place within two hours of each other in east Belfast.

Two men gained entry into two homes on Inverleith Drive between 17:00 and 18:00 GMT on Wednesday by claiming they were police officers.

A wallet and a sum of money were taken from one of the houses.

Police believe the incidents are connected to a distraction burglary in Moira at around 16:00 GMT.

It happened in the Ballynalargy area.

They are appealing for anyone who saw the men, one in his thirties and the other in his fifties, or a silver saloon car in the area to contact the PSNI.

Police have appealed to the public to ensure they ask all callers for identification before allowing them access to their homes.

"If you have elderly relatives, neighbours, or provide care for anyone who may fall prey to this type of crime, make them aware of these messages," a police spokesperson added.
