Suspected firearm found during Stranmillis alert

Army bomb officers examined the suspicious object

A suspected firearm has been found during a security alert in south Belfast.

Police and army bomb experts dealt with a report of a suspicious object in Southview Court, Stranmillis on Saturday.

A number of homes were evacuated during the alert.

The firearm was removed for further examination.
