14 treated for swine flu in Western Trust

Fourteen people are being treated for swine flu by the Western Trust, the Public Health Agency has revealed.

An additional 20 people are waiting to find out of they have the virus.

The PHA also confirmed that 17 people - including two with no underlying health conditions - have died from swine flu in Northern Ireland since November.

Dr Anne Kilgannon from the Western Trust said Altnagelvin was busier than most hospitals over Christmas, but staff were coping well.

"Although the numbers are small we have been busier than in other hospitals in Northern Ireland.

"However I think it's important to say we have coped well.

"We had predetermined plans in place and our staff have implemented those."
