Four charged after £1.5m gold and computer theft

Four men have been charged following a Europe-wide investigation into the theft of computer equipment and gold worth £1.5m.

The men, aged between 24 and 58, were charged with conspiracy to defraud.

They were charged in relation to the theft of computer equipment.

The men, arrested in north Belfast on Friday, are expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday 14 December.

The Europe-wide operation has been running since November 2009 when a shipment of gold and a separate shipment of computer equipment was stolen.

Four other men arrested in June were charged with fraud, deception and handling stolen goods.
