Sinn Fein councillor Brendan Curran was the bodyguard when glamour model Katie Price visited Belfast.

The reality television regular, aka Jordan, was in the city on Thursday to promote her new perfume 'Precious Love'.

And for protection she turned to the former republican prisoner who runs his own security and event management firm.

Mr Curran was one of Ms Price's main minders during a visit to the Semichem shop in the city's Castlecourt centre.

He stood near the model, dressed in pink T-shirt, jeans, fur waistcoat and fluffy boots, as she met hundreds of fans who queued to get her autograph.

A republican since the age of 15, Mr Curran spent almost eight years in prison for IRA membership and two attempted murders.

He has been a Sinn Fein councillor on Newry and Mourne District Council since first being elected in 1985, five years after his release from jail.

Mr Curran is also a member of his local district policing partnership.

Ms Price married her cage fighter husband Alex Reid in Las Vegas in February.

She also visited Forestside shopping centre in south Belfast on Thursday before travelling to the Irish Republic for further events accompanied by Mr Curran.
