Claudy man sentenced for road traffic offences

A 33-year-old Claudy man has been given a suspended jail sentence for a series of road traffic offences.

Brendan Gerard O'Neill, from Glenshane Road, admitted driving while disqualified, stealing a car, and driving with excess alcohol at Faughan View Park in the village on 24 May.

Judge Piers Grant described O'Neill's record as "appalling".

He sentenced him to 18-months suspended for three years, and disqualified him from driving for five years.

The court heard that O'Neill had 54 previous motoring convictions.
