A network of mobile speed cameras has begun operating across the Irish Republic.
The privately-operated cameras in clearly-marked vans are being placed in 518 areas recognised as accident blackspots.
County Donegal has the highest number of speed camera locations.
Gardai say the initiative only deals with Irish Republic-registered vehicles, although talks are ongoing with other police forces.
Irish Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey said: "The purpose of these new safety cameras is simple: to save lives and prevent serious injuries on our roads. No more, no less.
"Excessive speed is still the top killer on Irish roads. These new cameras will help the gardai in their efforts to make our roads safer."
