Irishman, 23, is killed in New Zealand car accident


An Irishman has been killed in a car accident in New Zealand.

It is understood he was driving a jeep which left the road at Poolburn, Central Otago, on the South Island on Thursday.

The man who died was Leslie Armitage, 23, from County Tipperary.

Another Irishman was also in the vehicle at the time. The 21-year-old suffered minor injuries. The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs is helping the men's families.

The two men had been working as farmhands in the Ida Valley.
