Workers turned away after company goes bust

Almost fifty workers have been refused entry to a construction site in Letterkenny because the company employing them has gone into receivership.

The employees had been working on the new accident and emergency department at Letterkenny General Hospital.

Their employers, McNamara Construction, confirmed that a receiver has been appointed to run the business.

After some time, the workers were allowed in to remove their tools and equipment.

The entrance to the site is now being patrolled by Irish police.
