Pipe bomb found during security alert in north Belfast

A pipe bomb has been discovered during a security alert in north Belfast.

Police said the "viable device" had been taken away for examination. It was found during the alert close to the Alexandra Bar on York Road.

Meanwhile, another security alert in west Belfast has also ended. Police said that nothing suspicious had been discovered.

Twelve homes had been evacuated during the alert in the Colinview Street area.

Parts of the Limestone Road and Mountcollyer Avenue which had been closed during the alert in north Belfast have now re-opened.
