Man assaulted 12-year-old boy over 'bullying' claims

Londonderry Magistrates' Court

A 43-year-old man who believed a 12-year-old boy was bullying his son has pleaded guilty to two charges of assault on the boy at Londonderry Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The court heard that Cyril Ming, from Grianan Drive in the city, grabbed the boy by the arm and threw him into a hedge earlier this year.

On another occasion, Ming grabbed the boy and stood on his foot.

He was fined £200 and ordered to pay the boy £300 in compensation.

The judge said that there were other ways to deal with such situations and added he was pleased there had been no incidents since.
