A pizza delivery man was shot in a paramilitary-style attack in Londonderry on Saturday night.

It is understood the man was attacked at Creggan Heights at about 2300 BST.

Father Stephen McLaughlin from St Mary's Parish in the City described the attack as psychopathic.

"They seem to be detached from normal life, the only way they express themselves is through shooting and beatings."

SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey said such shootings should become a thing of the past as soon as possible.

He added: "The people of Creggan will be saying this is not in their name."

Sinn Fein councillor Kevin Campbell said it was the third attack this week.

"These attacks will achieve nothing and I would call on those responsible to desist from these actions"
