Sex assault charge dropped against US actor Major Dodge
A sexual assault charge made against an American TV actor while he was staying in Belfast has been withdrawn.
Major Dodge, who has an address in Manhattan, was alleged to have touched a woman in a sexual manner on 13 May.
The actor, who had minor roles in US shows Sex and the City and Law and Order, was on a modelling assignment for a Bushmills Whiskey ad campaign.
His lawyer said: "The matter is now at a close which is of enormous relief to my client and his family."
Mr Dodge was not present at the hearing at Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday, when prosecutors confirmed they were not proceeding with the case.
But in a statement issued through his lawyer at the weekend, he said he was "very thrilled" by the development.
"I have been focusing on my family and God.
"I am blessed to have such a wonderful wife and son and am looking forward to getting back to work as well," the statement said.
