Man re-arrested in hospital has 'an appalling record'

A man who appeared in court on Tuesday was arrested again later that afternoon for being disorderly in Altnagelvin Hospital.

Limavady Magistrates' Court heard that Patrick Farren, 48, of Stoneburn Place, was in the Belfry Inn when he asked police to take him to casualty.

It was told that on arrival he became "highly disorderly", roaring and shouting and was charged with disorderly behaviour.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court again on Thursday.

A solicitor for the defence said his client was no stranger to the court and had an appalling record.

The judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said it was a very serious matter as it involved employees of the health service and he was concerned that if released, Farren would continue his behaviour.
