Holly House nursery to reopen after E. coli outbreak

A County Down nursery which closed because of an E. coli infection is to reopen on Friday.

On Monday it was confirmed that 12 children who attend Holly House in Dollingstown had contracted the bug.

Two further cases have since been linked to the same outbreak but no-one has become seriously ill.

The source of the infection has still not been established but the nursery said there was nothing to suggest it was responsible for the outbreak.

Audrey McCracken from Holly House nursery said staff were following recommendations from the Public Health Agency.

She said they were doing everything they could to prevent it from happening again but it was impossible to give a guarantee.

She said they had worked "very closely" infection control experts and had been given guidance on what they should do.

"There haven't been any major alterations to the nursery in any way," she added.
